Frankfurt is often associated with its striking skyline, international airport and reputation as Germany’s financial capital. For many travellers, it is simply a place to pass through before continuing elsewhere. Spend a few days here, however, and another side of the city gradually reveals itself. Along the banks of the River Main, museums, galleries, elegant residential neighbourhoods and leafy promenades create a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere, while the beautifully reconstructed Altstadt and the vibrant district of Sachsenhausen offer a city that feels both historic and refreshingly contemporary.

Perhaps Frankfurt’s greatest luxury is its convenience. The airport is less than fifteen minutes from the city centre, yet once you arrive, many of the city’s highlights are comfortably explored on foot. Whether visiting for business, a long weekend or as a stop on a road trip through Europe, Frankfurt rewards those who choose to stay a little longer. It is here, in the heart of Sachsenhausen, that Kennedy 89 has found its home.
A New Interpretation of Luxury
As one of the newest additions to Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, Kennedy 89 represents a fresh interpretation of contemporary luxury. Inspired by the optimism and forward-thinking spirit associated with John F. Kennedy’s famous visit to Frankfurt in 1963, the hotel embraces the future rather than recreating the past. Throughout the property, architecture, design, art and hospitality come together to create an experience that feels understated, elegant and unmistakably modern.

From the moment we stepped inside, it became clear that every detail had been thoughtfully considered. Natural materials, bespoke lighting, carefully curated artwork and clean architectural lines create interiors that feel sophisticated without becoming formal. Rather than relying on extravagance, Kennedy 89 allows craftsmanship and proportion to define the experience. Walking through the hotel almost feels like moving through a contemporary gallery, where paintings, sculptures and carefully selected design pieces contribute as much to the atmosphere as the beautifully designed furniture itself.
Hospitality That Makes the Difference
Beautiful hotels are not difficult to find, but creating a hotel that immediately feels welcoming is something far more special. More than anything else, that is what we will remember about Kennedy 89.

From the moment we arrived until the day we checked out, every member of the team made us feel genuinely welcome. There was an enthusiasm that simply cannot be trained. Everyone we met spoke about the hotel with pride, took time to share its story, happily answered our many questions and seemed sincerely invested in making sure we enjoyed every part of our stay.
Whether arranging our visit, showing us around the property, sharing the vision for the upcoming rooftop bar or simply stopping for a friendly conversation, every interaction felt authentic. Nothing ever felt rehearsed or transactional. Instead, there was a generosity, warmth and professionalism that elevated the entire experience. It is often said that people make the difference in hospitality, and at Kennedy 89, they truly do.
Spacious Suites Designed for Living
The hotel offers 180 rooms, including an impressive 69 suites across 20 different room categories, making it one of Frankfurt’s most versatile lifestyle hotels. Our suites were located on the entrance side of the hotel, where mature trees framed the views from our private balconies, creating an unexpectedly green and peaceful atmosphere in the heart of Frankfurt. On the other side of the hotel, rooms and suites offer a completely different perspective, opening up towards Frankfurt’s impressive skyline.

Inside, the suites felt more like a beautifully designed city apartment than a traditional hotel room. A fully equipped kitchenette, generous living areas and carefully selected furnishings created a wonderfully residential atmosphere, making it easy to imagine staying not only for a weekend but for several weeks.
That residential quality is reflected in the details throughout the room: contemporary artwork, tactile materials, elegant lighting and thoughtfully chosen objects give the spaces a sense of personality rather than the uniformity often associated with larger hotels. The result is both highly photogenic and genuinely comfortable – design that is meant to be lived in, not simply looked at.
Perhaps what impressed us most, however, was the comfort. Despite being located in one of Germany’s busiest cities, the suite was exceptionally quiet. Cool, perfectly dark and wonderfully comfortable, it provided two of the best nights of sleep we have enjoyed while travelling this year.
Facilities Designed Around the Guest Experience
Beyond the rooms themselves, Kennedy 89 offers facilities that feel carefully considered rather than excessive. The relaxed KaSa Lounge & Bar provides an inviting setting for an evening cocktail or an informal meeting, while the generous public spaces encourage guests to slow down rather than simply pass through.
A modern fitness centre allows visitors to maintain their routines while travelling, and during our visit we were also given a preview of the hotel’s upcoming rooftop bar overlooking Frankfurt’s skyline. Although it had not yet opened, the views alone convinced us that it will become one of the city’s most exciting new meeting places and certainly another reason for us to return.

The hotel’s signature restaurant was temporarily closed during our stay, but that unexpectedly gave us the opportunity to experience the room service instead. What could easily have been an ordinary in-room dinner became one of the highlights of our visit. The food arrived promptly, beautifully presented, wonderfully fresh and genuinely delicious. Every dish reflected the same care and attention to detail that characterised the hotel as a whole.
A Breakfast Worth Remembering
We’ve been fortunate to stay at many exceptional hotels around the world, yet we still find ourselves thinking about the breakfast at Kennedy 89. From beautifully presented fresh fruit and pastries to carefully prepared hot dishes and excellent coffee, everything felt considered without being overly elaborate. The quality of the ingredients stood out, as did the calm, elegant setting – the kind of breakfast where you arrive planning to stay for twenty minutes and somehow find yourself lingering over another coffee.

And then there were the scrambled eggs, quite simply the best we have ever had at a hotel. Perfectly creamy, beautifully prepared and almost ridiculously good for something so simple. It may sound like a small detail, but perhaps that is exactly the point: the best hotels understand that memorable experiences are often created through the smallest touches.
It was one of those seemingly simple hotel breakfasts that stays with you long after check-out and, for us, one of the unexpected highlights of Kennedy 89.
Final Thoughts
Looking back, what stayed with us was not one spectacular feature or dramatic moment, but the remarkable consistency of the entire experience. The architecture, the artwork, the interiors, the comfort and the service all reflected the same philosophy: contemporary luxury expressed through thoughtful design, genuine hospitality and meticulous attention to detail.

We arrived in Frankfurt expecting little more than a convenient stop between destinations, but we left with an entirely different impression – not only of the city itself, but of a hotel that captures its modern spirit beautifully. Long after we’ve forgotten exactly where every piece of furniture stood or how the lobby was designed, we’ll remember how the people at Kennedy 89 made us feel. Their warmth, generosity and genuine passion for what they are building transformed a beautifully designed hotel into a place with real personality.

In the end, that is what true hospitality is all about, and we have no doubt that Kennedy 89 will become one of Frankfurt’s most talked-about new hotels. We very much look forward to returning – not only to experience the rooftop bar, but to once again meet the wonderful people who made our stay so memorable.
